3rd annual summer school on Transitional Justice and the Politics of memory, Cress, Croatia, 23 June - 3 July 2014

Students will be offered a hands-on insight into political changes in the Mediterranean Region including the former Yugoslavia, North Africa and the Middle East through a 10-day intensive program.
Themes that will be covered during the course of study include regional perspectives on: Transitional Justice, Politics of Memory, Human Rights, Democratization, State of Emergency Law, Political Changes in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya. 
In addition to the summer school academic program, which will include an international panel of experts, this course will also include films, excursions, a special workshop on academic writing, publishing and grant proposal writing, and guest lectures from leading transitional justice practitioners. Last year’s guest lecturers included members of the Us Embassy in Tripoli and UN mission in Libya.
I will also participate and will be leading the session on professional development.
 I was there last summer and the atmosphere is simply amazing. We had a great group of students from all over Europe and the Mediterranean (including a group of guys from Libya). The Island is gorgeous and has some of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia (the most crystal clear I have seen anywhere). We also enjoyed some wonderful dinners (the local lamb and fish are superb). And we had lively discussion over wine that lasted late into the night.
The total fee, including tuition and ten nights accommodation in a seaside hostel, for this summer school is €500
