INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
THE WAYS OF FEDERALISM
AND THE HORIZONS OF THE SPANISH AUTONOMIC STATE
University of the Basque Country, BILBAO - OCTOBER 2011
The Department of Constitutional Law and History of the Political Thought of the University of the Basque Country is organizing the International Conference The Ways of Federalism and the Horizons of the Spanish State of Autonomies, which will be held in Bilbao on 19 and 21 October.
The Conference venue will be the Auditorium of the University of the Basque Country, in front of the well-known Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao.
European and North American speakers of recognized international prestige will analyze the current challenges of federal systems, as well as some of the most relevant problems faced by the Spanish State of Autonomies. To what extent can serve the development of the Autonomous State, the answers that the accredited systems are giving to questions such as the dual integration-territorial distribution of power, the intergovernmental relations or political and cultural diversity?
A Call for Abstracts is open for contributors until 31 March 2011. Proposals must be submitted in English (300-350 words) and must be related to one or more of the following topics:
I. Territorial integration and distribution of power in the federal systems or in the Spanish autonomous system;
II. Intergovernmental relations in the federal systems or in the Spanish autonomous system;
III. Political and cultural diversity in the federal State or in the Spanish autonomous State;
IV. Other current challenges of the federal systems.
