REGISTER FOR THE CONGRESS BY 18 MARCH
 
Early-bird registration for WC2020 ends on 18 March 2020. All participants, including session chairs, panel chairs, discussants and paper givers, must register to attend the Congress.
 
Congress participants must be 2020 individual IPSA members to register for the World Congress.
 
2020 IPSA members who are also members of the Portuguese Political Science Association (APCP) are eligible for a reduced registration fee. More information on APCP membership at www.apcp.pt.

ACCOMMODATION
 
Preferential rates have been negotiated for the participants of the IPSA World Congress and we encourage you to book your hotel to benefit from the special rates.
 
There is a variety of room rates to fit all budgets. All the Congress hotels are located within a 25 minutes walk from the NOVA University.
 
 
IPSA AND CONCORDIA RENEWED THEIR FIVE-YEAR AGREEMENT
 
IPSA and Concordia University signed their 4th Memorandum of Understanding on 3 Feb 2020, thus extending their collaboration until 2025. 
 
The signing ceremony was held at Concordia University in the presence of Concordia President Graham Carr and IPSA President Marianne Kneuer. Patrice Bachand, Head of Partnerships and International Donors at the Minister of International Relations and Francophonie in Québec, expressed the Québec's support during his speech. The event gathered key actors committed to developing Montréal’s international influence.

CONFERENCE ON DIGITALIZATION
 
IPSA President Marianne Kneuer spoke at a Luncheon Conference on “Political Science and Digitalization: Global Perspectives” at the Department of Political Science at Concordia University.
 
 
#MEET4IMPACT WORKSHOP
 
Geneviève Leclerc, founder of #MEET4IMPACT, lead a workshop at IPSA Secretariat, highlighting IPSA's contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.#MEET4IMPACT is a non-profit organization who empowers associations and other organizations to generate, measure and communicate the social impact of their activities and events. 
 
 
 
IPSA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FEATURED IN BOARDROOM MAGAZINE
 
Boardroom magazine has recently conducted an interview with IPSA Executive Director Dr. Kim Fontaine-Skronski on the governance of non-profit international associations and major challenges they face in terms of governance structure.
 
Dr. Fontaine-Skronski also discussed IPSA’s administrative reforms following by the adoption of IPSA’s 2018-2022 Strategic Plan.
 
DAVID M. OLSON AWARD
 
The David M. Olson Award honours a young scholars engaged in parliamentary or legislative studies, the focus of David Olson’s research and teaching.
 
The recipient will be rewarded for the best self-authored paper presented in one of the RC08 panels at the IPSA World Congress in Lisbon in July 2020.
 
The Award is funded by the Research Committee of Legislative Specialists and will be given after the 2020 IPSA World Congress.
 
 
IPSA-HSE SUMMER SCHOOL
13-22 August 2020
St. Peterburg, Russia
 
Organized by IPSA and the National Research University Higher School of Economics, the 4th Annual IPSA-HSE Summer School for Methods of Political and Social Research will be held on 13-22 August 2020 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
 
IPSA-HSE offers a series of workshops, each related to one of the cutting-edge techniques in political and social research. Students will take short introductory courses as well as general methodological courses.

IPSA-CONCORDIA SUMMER SCHOOL
8-17 June 2020
Montréal, Canada
 
The IPSA-Concordia Summer School, is a nine-day program at Concordia’s downtown campus on 8-17 June 2020 in Montréal, Canada.
 
Policy-oriented seminars will be completed with a practical hands-on Diplomacy Lab, allowing the participants to work on case studies in teams. Through educational field trips, participants will also explore Canadian politics and society and have the opportunity to network with Montreal’s vibrant international community.

APSN WORKSHOP

The Arab Political Science Network (APSN) organizes its annual Research Development Workshop on June 5, 2020 in collaboration with the Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship at the American University in Beirut.

What’s New on the IPSAportal?
 
1. Founded in 2004, the QoG Institute is an independent research institute within the Department of Political Science at the University of Gothenburg. The website provides access to a range of datasets available for free: the QoG Expert Survey, a dataset based on our survey of experts on public administration around the world, covering 107 countries; the QoG OECD, a newly available dataset on OECD countries; the EU Regional Data consists of approximately 450 variables from Eurostat and other sources, covering three levels of European regions - country, major socio-economic regions and basic regions for the application of regional policies; the QoG EQI Dataset, that contains data on sub-national governance in Europe, based on citizen perceptions and experiences with public services. The Data Visualization Tool allows displaying the data from the QoG Basic Dataset on a world map and in scatterplots. (Research Institute on the IPSAPortal).
 
2. The World Bank data catalog provides access to 14.960-time series, 3.075 microdata (3.075) and 705 geospatial data (705). Through the website it is possible to browse by country and indicator all the data, or explore the main data sets: the World Bank’s Statistical Capacity Indicator, a composite score assessing the capacity of a country’s statistical system; the ImpacEvaluation Microdata Catalog, providing access to data and metadata underlying impact evaluations conducted by the World Bank or other agencies; the Enterprise Surveys covering a broad range of business environment topics; and the World Bank Open Data initiative, providing all users with open access to World Bank data. (Data Banks on the IPSAPortal).
 
3. Provided by the Norwegian Centre for Research Data, the MacroDataGuide offers assessments of the comparability of the different data sets and data sources. The included data sources vary in focus and scope and include general databases containing social and economic data, large, general datasets with a number of political variables, indicators and indices produced by non-governmental and inter-governmental organisations, and datasets compiled by independent researchers. The MacroDataGuide covers the major data collections, such as the databases maintained by Eurostat, the OECD and the World Bank, and a number of datasets from more specialised institutions and independent research projects.
